The road to Suusamyr crosses the Too-Ashuu pass, so build a spare day into your trip: if the weather turns on the pass, you may not reach the lodge on time. Suus Lodge sits in the Suusamyr valley at 2,200 m, 158 km from Bishkek along the Bishkek–Osh highway. There are no lifts at all. A snowcat takes you up, and you ski untracked snow on the slopes of the Suusamyr-Too and Kyrgyz ranges. A day of this costs €140 and a week from €1,460, and the lodge sleeps 25 and has a sauna. We checked the prices on suus.kg on 3 November 2026.
How to get to Suus Lodge
- Take the Bishkek–Osh highway. The lodge is 158 km from Bishkek. At 120–140 km you pass the Too-Ashuu ski base by the pass of the same name, and then the road drops into the Suusamyr valley.
- Arrange transport with the lodge. Email info@suus.kg or call +996 550 198 899 and ask how they get guests there. If you drive yourself over the pass in winter, you need winter tyres.
- Read the Emergencies Ministry warnings. Avalanche warnings on the Bishkek–Osh road usually cover km 198–255 near the Ala-Bel and Chychkan passes, beyond Suusamyr, but after heavy snowfall it's worth reading them the evening before.
How the skiing works
Cat-skiing means a snowcat takes you up instead of a lift, and you ride down through untracked snow. The terrain is on the Suusamyr-Too and Kyrgyz ranges. If you'd rather climb under your own steam, you can go ski touring. There are no groomed runs here at all, it's pure backcountry, so you need to be comfortable in deep snow before you come.
How much it costs
| Item | Price (as of 03.11.2026) |

| Cat-skiing, one day | €140 |
| One week | from €1,460 |

Ask the lodge exactly what the weekly package covers, whether lodging, meals or transfers, when you book. Other places for cat-skiing and freeride are on our freeride and cat-skiing page.
Where to stay
You stay at the lodge itself, which takes 25 guests and has a sauna for after skiing. We couldn't find any other lodging in the valley in public sources, so book early for popular dates.
Who it suits
Suusamyr is for skiers and snowboarders who are confident off-piste and want several days in a row of untracked snow without lift queues. It's not a place for beginners, who will do better at the bases near Bishkek or at Karakol. If you want to mix pistes and freeride, look at Jyrgalan, where Ala-Too Resort is opening next door. Every option, from the bases near Bishkek to the backcountry, is compared in our guide to Kyrgyzstan's ski resorts.
Avalanches and safety
All the skiing at Suusamyr is off-piste, and we found nothing public about an avalanche service in the valley. Everyone in the group needs a transceiver, probe and shovel, and ask the lodge in advance how their guiding works and what happens if someone is buried. Kyrgyzstan has no public daily avalanche bulletin, so the guide on the ground decides where it's safe to ski on a given day. Read our avalanche safety guide before you go. The emergency number is 112.
