Kashka-Suu and Kashkulak, two ski bases in one valley

Kashka-Suu, with a hotel, and neighbouring Kashkulak, with evening skiing, are 35 km from Bishkek. Day passes 1,200–1,600 som (2024/25), road and rental tips.

The last 7 km to Kashka-Suu are a dirt road, so in winter come in a car with proper winter tyres, and after fresh snow a 4x4 is the safer choice. The directions in the government register are simple: 28 km on asphalt from central Bishkek, turn left before the dam, then 7 km up the valley, about 35 km in all. Kashkulak, a younger base that opened on 23 December 2023, sits in the same valley. Since you drive the same road to reach either, it makes sense to look at them together.

Kashka-Suu is one of the oldest ski bases in the country. Its first T-bar, 870 m long, went up back in 1977. Today it's a small base with a hotel where people come for the weekend, while Kashkulak draws a crowd with its newer cable lift and evening skiing. The same valley is also home to ZiL and the tiny Politeh base, which we cover on our page about smaller ski bases near Bishkek.

How to get to Kashka-Suu from Bishkek

  1. Call ahead. Kashka-Suu is on +996 550 107 522 and kashka-suu.kg. Kashkulak isn't in the government register, so check its Instagram, @ski.kashkulak, for opening news.
  2. Leave from central Bishkek. The first 28 km are asphalt. We couldn't find a scheduled bus, so you'll need your own car, a taxi or a driver for the day.
  3. Turn left before the dam. From here it's another 7 km on dirt. It isn't always packed down in winter, and a saloon on summer tyres will struggle.
  4. Pick your base. For a long day and somewhere to sleep, stay at Kashka-Suu. If you want a few runs after work, Kashkulak is the one with evening skiing.

Both bases are fairly low, topping out around 2,100–2,300 m, so early-winter snow isn't guaranteed. In 2024/25 the Kashka-Suu runs opened around 13 December on artificial snow.

How much is a lift pass?

Neither base has published new prices. The latest known ones are for 2024/25, from 24.kg, and they have probably risen by 2026/27.

At 500 som in 2024/25, the Kashka-Suu child pass was one of the cheapest near Bishkek. You'll find other bases' prices in our overview of ski resorts in Kyrgyzstan.

Where to stay and what's nearby

Kashka-Suu has its own hotel (about 65 beds in 2021), a sauna, an ice rink and even a conference room, which is why groups of friends and companies come for weekends and team outings. We have no reliable information about accommodation at Kashkulak, and its visitors usually go back to Bishkek for the night. In August 2026 a deal was signed to build a large resort, Baytik Mountain Resort, in Kashka-Suu village for $127.9 million, but the first phase is promised in 4–5 years, so it won't change anything this winter.

Who these bases suit

Kashka-Suu is a good fit for families and beginners who want a cheap children's pass and a bed right by the slope. Kashkulak is for people living in Bishkek who want to ski in the evening, and it's the only base near the city where we could confirm evening skiing. Experienced skiers will cover both in a day or two, and after that Chunkurchak, with five chairlifts, or a trip to Issyk-Kul makes more sense.

Safety

Kashka-Suu is among the Chuy region bases inspected before each season by the Department of Tourism, the Emergencies Ministry and local authorities, and in December 2024 it was declared ready. There are no patrols outside the runs, and the emergency number is 112. If you plan to leave the groomed slope, read our avalanche safety guide first.
